Description: This data set is a layer derived from the Michigan Geographic Framework (MGF). This shapefile consists of polygons that represent Michigan school district boundaries as assigned to the Michigan Geographic Framework (MGF). MGF contains the number assigned by the Federal government (fips_code) to represent a school district code. The FIPS numbering system differs from the State of Michigan numbering system (DCODE). The layer is being distributed by county. Since many school districts are split by a county boundary, the entire school district would not be provided with a single county's shapefile. Therefore, all the counties' school_d layers where the desired school district falls within must be downloaded to get the complete polygon boundary.
